Branduin says 'is now'
Hatfield nods.
Branduin says 'wanna open us in prayer'
Hatfield says 'you bet'
Branduin says, "Let's pray." and bows her head in prayer.
Hatfield says 'anywho'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'Father God'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'we just bring this evening before your throne '
Branduin says 'yes Lord'
Hatfield says 'If no one else shows for the study, maybe it is just in your timing that they need to be elsewhere. That is not for my human mind to grasp, so I leave that with you.'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'Lord, I ask your blessing upon my sister Branduin'
Branduin thanks Hatfield heartily.
Hatfield says 'she is faithful and wants to spread your glory to all those who will listen'
Branduin agrees absolutely.
Hatfield says 'give her your prosperity not only here Lord, but in that outside world she knows as Birmingham'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'Just give her a job to do so that she can work for your glory'
Branduin says 'yes Lord please'
Hatfield says 'and give her the wisdom to do that job well and be a blessing to her earthly employer'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'this we also leave in your hands (though it can be hard at times)'
Hatfield says 'Father God, for our sister Jessica'
Branduin says 'oh yes Lord'
Hatfield says 'you know that whole situation better than we could ever imagine or determine from talking with her'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'For her Dad, offer healing'
Branduin says 'yes Lord touch him'
Hatfield says 'for this other situation with OSHA, give them resolution'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'and Lord Jesus, just be a light in that whole family'
Hatfield says 'I know we normally do the prayer time after study, but I just feel a need to bring some of this before your throne NOW lord'
Branduin nods.
Branduin nods in enthusiastic agreement with Hatfield.
Hatfield says 'For Jahda's issues he's spoken of in his supplication notes'
Branduin says 'yes Lord touch him'
Hatfield says 'I don't even know where to begin on that Father God'
Hatfield says 'but as with the other stuff, I leave it in your hands'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'I also bring a little boy before you Lord'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'I know him only as my insurance agent's grandson'
Hatfield says 'Ann's grandson was recently diagnosed with leukemia'
Branduin says 'oh Lord'
Hatfield says 'and though she tries to maintain her professional demeanor, you can tell that there's a grandma there that's worried'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'Father God, I would never question your wisdom, but if you might find healing for this little one, I know that there's a grandma that would praise your name all the louder'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'but, not my will, but thine'
Hatfield says 'was part of why I thought to do prayers first ;)'
Branduin nods.
Branduin must like Hatfield a great deal to beam at him so broadly!
Hatfield says 'Lord, Branduin's wisdom will keep, but I ask your protection upon her this night as the weather comes her way'
Branduin thanks Hatfield heartily.
Hatfield says 'I ask all these things in Jesus name'
Branduin boldly proclaims 'Amen!'
Hatfield boldly proclaims 'Amen!'
Branduin gives praise to The Creator.
Branduin flips head over heels.
Branduin says 'thanks hatty'
Hatfield says 'you on dialup or dsl or what?'
Branduin says 'we were going to start james chapter 2 tonight'
Branduin says 'no dsl'
Branduin says 'but if power goes out LOL can't see what typing LOL'
Hatfield says 'ah, if you were on dialup, I'd say shut down till after'
Hatfield says 'ok, James 2...'
Branduin says 'well wanna forge ahead or just punt?'
Hatfield says 'lets see how far down the field we can get'
Branduin nods.
Branduin giggles.
Hatfield says 'ok, James 2...'
Branduin nods at Hatfield.
~Verse to Room from Hatfield~
James 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
Branduin says 'this chapter starts out be reminding us of how to treat those who are less fortunate than ourselves'
Branduin says 'it picks up where he mentioned it in the first chapter'
Branduin says 'james 1:9-11'
~Verse to Room from Hatfield~
James 1:9-11 9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: 10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. 11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
Branduin says 'that is something i have found interesting about James he forshadows later passages in the prev chapters ;)'
Branduin says 'makes it wholistic ;)'
Hatfield says 'its like tempering eggs in a recipe'
Branduin says 'and continues to remind all of us how to act'
Branduin nods.
Branduin says 'yeah it is'
Branduin says 'and it kinda baffles me that we still don't get it'
Hatfield says 'but enough of me and cooking ;)'
Branduin says 'and whenever i come upon how we should treat those less fortunate than ourselves it always brings to mind my sister in law as well :('
Branduin says 'they are so blessed with everything'
Branduin says 'but when it comes to helping others they do it b/c their church says to but their attitude stinks about it :('
Branduin says 'and taht just makes me sad'
Hatfield says 'they do it more because of what the people say rather than what God says?'
Branduin says 'and it makes me wonder how they can be so legalistic about tother things in the word'
Branduin says 'and not understand this at all'
Branduin nods.
Branduin says 'no they follow it like the pharisees followed the law'
Branduin says 'they do it b/c it is written but then complain about THOSE people'
Hatfield says 'all you can do is offer an example. Otherwise they might feel you're accusing them and run'
Branduin says 'and how they act ('
Branduin nods.
Branduin says 'so anyway Jesus keeps reminding us'
Hatfield says 'and James, he's speaking on this subj ;)'
Branduin says 'and tell ing us how to treat folks'
Branduin nods.
Branduin says 'but some folks dont understand that actions without meaning are just works without faith'
~Verse to Room from Branduin~
James 2:1-7 1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. 2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? 6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? 7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
Branduin says 'we are not to be respecters of persons'
Hatfield says 'as the song says 'its about as useless as a screen door on a submarine'
Branduin says 'not to treat folks better if they have golden rings etc'
Branduin says 'Jesus wouldn't have them....no matter what Oral Roberts wrote on the subject ;)'
Branduin says 'man and verse 7 really hits it too'
Branduin says 'it is like blasphemy'
Branduin sighs.
Branduin says 'that to me is scary'
Hatfield says 'because you're speaking out of both sides of your mouth'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'duplicitous'
Branduin says 'i just pray and pray that i am never like that'
Branduin says 'and i think that is all i can do'
Branduin giggles.
Branduin pats Hatfield on his head.
Branduin says 'look at verse 5 i mean wow'
~Verse to Room from Branduin~
James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
~Verse to Room from Hatfield~
James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
Branduin giggles.
Hatfield says 'faster typist'
Branduin says 'they who are poor in riches are rich in faith'
Branduin boggles at the concept.
Hatfield says 'maybe because they don't always have much else to rely on?'
Branduin says 'but our world is so corrupting to have us think the opposite'
Branduin nods at Hatfield.
Hatfield says 'get to the end of the rope, tie a knot and hang on'
Branduin nods.
Branduin says 'and they should be able to expect help and love from us rather than condemnation'
Branduin giggles.
Branduin says 'nah, we are just talking ;)'
Kendogarurumon says 'sorry im late!'
Branduin hugs Kashaph.
Branduin hugs Kashaph.
Kashaph hugs Branduin.
Branduin says 'welcome welcome'
Branduin says 'we are just starting james 2'
Branduin giggles.
Branduin says 'and talking about those less fortunate than ourselves ;)'
Kashaph says 'that would be 95% of the world's population'
Branduin nods at Kashaph.
Branduin says 'yes kash it is'
Branduin says 'but we don't see that in America much even in some of our churches and that saddens (and sickens) me'
Branduin says 'i was just talking about how my sister in law who is very devout in terms of her church acts when she helps someone '
Kashaph says 'the man with the worst job in america has it better than the average man in a third world country'
Branduin says 'and very prejudicially at that'
Branduin nods.
Kashaph says 'even the homeless people here have it better than the homeless people there'
~Verse to Room from Branduin~
Branduin nods.
Kendogarurumon says 'what did i miss bunny?'
Branduin says 'yep so it is hard for some of us to see that'
Branduin hugs Kendogarurumon.
Branduin says 'i just put it up again ;)'
Kashaph says 'it's true in the business world. If you dress in jeans and a T-shirt, you aren't likely to get promoted'
Kashaph says 'but if you wear a suit/tie to work every day'
Branduin nods at Kashaph.
Kendogarurumon says 'ok thanks brandy'
Kashaph says 'you get promoted'
Branduin says 'yep and even in our churches......my church used to have a dress code'
Branduin boggles at the concept.
Branduin says 'thank goodness it doesn't now though'
Branduin says 'and i wanted to say something about our sermon on sunday '
Hatfield listens intently.
Branduin says 'we had a guest preacher who was talking about the Auburn Wesley Foundations mission trip to Liberia'
Branduin says 'they are currently there '
Branduin says 'it is in Africa'
Branduin says 'and would you believe the people there who are very poor compared to our standards....'
Kashaph says 'did you know htat 70% of the population in Uganda has AIDS/HIV'
Branduin says 'think that our group is lazy b/c they are playing soccer with the kids and talking about Christ rather than building ?? that boggled me'
Branduin nods at Kashaph.
Branduin says 'so i don't think it is just here in the States or the first world where we can become prejudiced it is what we were brought up to believe or from our experiences as well'
Branduin says 'but the point is'
Branduin says 'we are not to be respectors of persons'
Branduin says 'not to judge by outer appearances no matter what they are'
Branduin nods sagely.
Branduin says 'we are to treat all the same'
Kashaph says 'Tell that to the people who won't hire fat people, or the women/men who won't date em :P'
Branduin says 'with the Love of Christ no matter what ;)'
Branduin nods.
Branduin says 'well, James is talking about what we ARE to do rather than the problems ;)'
Branduin says 'so how do WE go about doing this in our daily lives??'
Branduin says 'can each one of us here think of a way to be more open to the needs of others?'
Branduin listens intently.
Branduin says 'anyone?'
Branduin peers around herself intently.
Branduin giggles.
Branduin says 'how about this: no snap judgements?'
Branduin says 'that is hardest for me'
Branduin says 'and my snap judgements are usually backwards from others' snap judgements'
Branduin says 'when i see an african american or latino i tend to think better of them rather than worse'
Branduin says 'don't know why'
Branduin says 'i was raised in a very prejudicial family'
Branduin says 'but for some reason God has seen fit to make me see somethings differently'
Branduin peers around herself intently.
Branduin pokes Hatfield in the ribs.
Hatfield says 'sorry, necessity'
Branduin says 'kash lost link anyone else still here?'
Hatfield says 'where we?'
Hatfield says 'I'm here now'
Hatfield meekly apologizes to Branduin.
Branduin nods.
Branduin says 'no probs can you scroll back up or want me to repeat?'
Branduin pokes Kendogarurumon in the ribs.
Branduin says 'kendo may have gone afk'
Branduin giggles.
Branduin says 'but James continues to remind us to treat everyone the same and not be prejudiced esp due to money'
Kendogarurumon says 'im here'
Branduin hugs Cyto.
Branduin says 'and cyto is back now too'
Branduin giggles.
Kendogarurumon hugs Branduin.
Branduin says 'well it is storming here now :('
Cyto says 'now with some capascity to think coherently'
Branduin nods.
Hatfield says 'so we're all back and now the teacher might have to bail'
Branduin nods.
Branduin says 'yeah my computer is spoolingup for a crash methinks'
Branduin giggles.
Hatfield says 'LONG BALL brandi!'
Hatfield winks at Branduin.
Branduin says 'well giggle'
Branduin says 'ok so i will close the log will ya'llpray while i bail??'
